I believe Apple has made a wise and competent hire for their new security chief. That said, am I the only one a little surprised that this position did not exist previously. I would imagine the protection of intellectual property at Apple would have been a little higher on the priority list, especially given the number of beta devices that have found their way into the open ahead of release dates.
